Murtaugh (Damon Wayans) and Trish (Keesha Sharp) have a new babysitter in Season 1, episode 3 of “Lethal Weapon.”

Next week’s episode, titled “Best Buds,” starts with the husband and wife — who have two teenage kids and a newborn — struggling to find some alone time. But as revealed in the preview clip for the episode, it seems that Trish manages to hire a babysitter without Murtaugh knowing.

In the promo video, Murtaugh and Trish are in a middle of a romantic date when his phone suddenly rings. Trish asks Murtaugh if the call is from work, and the LAPD officer replies: “Worse, [it’s] Riggs [Clayne Crawford].” When Murtaugh asks Trish if he should tell the waiter that they are leaving, Trish stops him and says: “I have a bottle of wine … and a babysitter.” But who could be the couple’s new babysitter?

In a video interview released by FOX earlier this week, executive producer McG said that Sharp’s character is going to be “instrumental in bringing in the Riggs character to the Murtaugh’s household,” just like in the “Lethal Weapon” film series, on which the TV series is based. Given that plot detail, it’s likely that the lovebirds’ new babysitter is none other than Riggs.

As for the case of the week, the synopsis for the episode reveals that Murtaugh and Riggs try to solve a “violent case involving a drug cartel, theft, two killings and, unfortunately, Murtaugh’s old T.O. [top officer], Ned Brower (Ted Levine).” Initial investigation reveals that Ned is more involved than just driving the cash, leaving Murtaugh with a difficult decision to make. When the duo seeks for back-up, they reach out to Cruz (Richard Cabral) for help.

Meanwhile, Riggs continues to deal with his wife’s death by depending on outside vices while working on the case.

“Lethal Weapon’s” “Best Buds” airs Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 8 p.m. on FOX.
