‘Lethal Weapon’ Spoilers: ‘American Idol’ Alum Aubrey Cleland To Play RJ’s Girlfriend In Episode 13?

“American Idol” alum Audrey Cleland is appearing in next week’s episode of “Lethal Weapon.”

A promo photo for Season 1, episode 13 confirmed Cleland’s guest-starring role on the FOX buddy cop series. Details about the singer’s role are being kept under wraps, but the promo photo (seen below) suggests that Cleland may be playing RJ’s (Dante Brown) new girlfriend.

According to the synopsis for the episode, Roger (Damon Wayans) and Trish (Keesha Sharp) disagree with RJ about his future. If Cleland plays RJ’s girlfriend, then the husband and wife may be arguing over RJ’s relationship with her. Perhaps, either Roger or Trish doesn’t approve of the romance, while the other is cool with it.

Cleland tried out for Seasons 9, 11 and 12 of “American Idol.” In Season 12, Cleland finally made it to the semi-finals, but she was eliminated after the public didn’t vote her to be part of the Top 10. However, it was announced that a sing-off would take place between the top voted male and female who didn’t move on to the next round, in order to determine which eliminated contestant would join the Top 10 on the American Idol Tour. Aubrey beat Charlie Askew in the sing-off, making her the 11th placer of the season.

As for the case of the week for episode 13, Roger and Martin (Clayne Crawford) investigate a series of violent crimes whose victims are all members of the same church. As seen in the preview clip for the episode, the duo visits the church and tries to ask a priest about the crimes.

Meanwhile, while investigating the case, Martin faces a moral dilemma of his own when the one-year anniversary of Miranda’s (Floriana Lima) death sends him to a new low.

“Lethal Weapon” Season 1, episode 13, titled “The Seal Is Broken,” airs on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. EST on FOX. Watch the preview clip for the episode below:
