LG’s G5 is set to be unveiled Saturday at the MWC 2016 event scheduled in Barcelona, Spain. A new report says apart from the flagship, the South Korean tech giant is also working on a smaller sibling. This device has been dubbed by tech portals as “LG G5 Lite.”

Portal Win Future apparently spotted the new LG handset visiting the GFXBench site, revealing key configurations and model number. The LG G5 Lite is tied to the model number “LG H840.” In comparison, the flagship LG G5 has been reported to carry the following number: “LG H830.”

As far as the specifications go, the LG H840 will apparently flaunt a 5.3-inch display, packed with a Quad HD screen resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. Under the hood, it will be powered by Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset and backed by 3 GB of RAM.

The benchmark listing points to 32 GB of native storage space for the smaller sibling. When it comes to camera configuration, an 8-megapixel sensor will be mounted at the front as well as the back of the phone.

Although this device visited the benchmark site with Android 4.4 Lollipop onboard, it’s safe to assume that by the time the device gets finalized LG will upgrade it to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The device that visited the site could also be a testing device or prototype.

Looking at the available specs, Phone Arena says the LG G5 Lite sounds like the LG G4 Beat, also widely referred as LG G4s. At this point, we do not know if this device will be introduced alongside the LG G5.

Flagship LG G5 has been rumored to carry a 5.5- or 5.6-inch display and a Quad HD resolution. A 20-megapixel rear-facing camera unit and an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter have been rumored to be part of the device. On the contrary, past rumors suggested that a dual camera setup will be housed in the G5.

The G5 is believed to feature a metallic design in place of the synonymous plastic chassis. LG will apparently introduce a fingerprint scanner for the first time. Other key LG G5 features include a microSD card slot to facilitate memory expansion and a USB Type-C port.

As always, readers are advised to take the reported LG G5 Lite and LG G5 specifications with the proverbial pinch of salt as the tech giant has not confirmed any information so far.
