LG Optimus 3D
The Optimus 3D is the world's first 3D phone. LG

While LG's 3D-ready smartphone hasn't been a particuarlly well-kept secret, LG gave the phone its official unveiling at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. LG is going all-out with it's 3D offerings, and the Optimus 3D joins both the Optimus Pad and LG's line of 3D-ready phones.

The basics: Equipped with 4.3-inch screen and runnning a dual-core TI OMAP4 1Ghz processor, the Optimus 3D offers sharp visuals ontop of a swift engine.

The Operating System: Android Froyo (2.2)

Why It Matters: The Optimus 3D is the first phone to feature fully functional glasses-less 3D visuals. This is a featue LG hopes will separate the Optmus 3D from its counterparts.

What Else?: The Phone also features a pair of 5.0 megapixel 3D cameras, which allows users to take 3D pictures and video. Users can upload their 3D videos to a special 3D YouTube channel.

Release: LG hasn't announced when the phone will be released.

Price: Also unknown.

Will it Succeed?: The sucecess of the Optimus 3D will depend largely on whether consumers see the appeal in a 3D phone, and whether LG can defend against the inevitable slew of 3D competitors.
