LG Electronics has announced that it has began shipping its LG V30 smartphone to its customers in South Korea. The company also teased that its Android flagship smartphone will also be reaching other countries in the weeks to come.

“LG Electronics begins shipping its well-regarded LG V30 smartphone to customers in its home country of South Korea this week and will be followed by deliveries to eager customers in North America, Europe and other key markets globally in the days and weeks to come,” LG said on its press release.

The timeframe that LG provided for other markets seems vague, but South Korean news outlets claim that it may arrive “next month” in the U.S., according to Phone Arena. LG still hasn’t given the exact price for the LG V30 in the U.S., but the device is selling in Korea for 949,300 KRW (around US$840) for the 64GB model, while the 128GB LG V30 Plus model is selling for 998,800 KRW (around US$890).

LG has announced four color options for the LG V30, namely moroccan blue, cloud silver, aurora black and lavender violet. LG hasn’t mentioned if all of these color options will be available in the U.S., but the new lavender violet color will arrive sometime in October.

The LG V30 appears to be a good option for those who want to purchase a bezel-less smartphone at a cheaper price. The LG V30’s price undercuts the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which starts at $930 unlocked. The V30 is also significantly cheaper than the $999 iPhone X, which won’t actually start shipping until Nov. 3.

The LG V30 features a 6-inch P-OLED FullVision display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a screen resolution of 1,440 x 2,880. Despite the large screen, the V30 is 8mm shorter and 3mm narrower than the last year’s LG V20. Inside, it’s being powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128Gb of storage.

A Closer Look The V30's Cameras

Where the LG V30 excels at is in its camera performance. On the back, the LG V30 features a set of dual cameras; one of them is equipped with an f/1.6 lens. This is the first smartphone camera to feature that large aperture size, which allows it to take better photos even in lowlight conditions.

YouTuber Zack Nelson from JerryRigEverything published a teardown video of the LG V30 yesterday. The teardown of the smartphone revealed that the 16-megapixel camera comes with optical image stabilization (OIS) and the f/1.6 aperture lens. Nelson also noted that LG is using glass lenses on the camera instead of plastic, which means that users should expect improved image quality.

“The V30 was designed to help consumers best capture the experiences that make up our life stories,” LG Electronics Mobile Communication Company President Juno Cho said. “Its functions and features delight our senses of sight, sound and touch and when it comes to looks, it may just be the most beautiful smartphone we’ve ever developed.”

Customers in the U.S. will likely only have to wait a couple of weeks before they can finally get their hands on the LG V30, and, hopefully, LG will finally reveal an exact release date soon.
