Over the summer, rapper Lil Mama stayed busy dissing Nicki Minaj. First, the rapper released a freestyle over Drake’s “4 PM in Calabasas,” which some took as a Minaj diss.

Then, in September, she posted a photo of Lil Kim on Instagram with the caption, “Like @lilkimthequeenbee ain’t make b------ wanna rock pink hair at some point,” a reference to Minaj rapping, “Like I ain’t make these b------ rock pink hair at some point.”

While Lil Mama has avoided using Minaj’s name while throwing shots, during a recent interview with Mara The Hip-Hop Socialite, the rapper revealed why she felt the need to diss Minaj. According to Lil Mama, she only responds to “things that are being said” and feels like she is being picked on.

“It’s almost like being in class, and somebody keep kicking your chair, and then you turn around and smack the s--- out of them, and they’re like, ‘Whoa, she’s crazy. Why did she get up and do that?’ And you’re trying to explain… ‘Hey, this person is starting with me. They keep pushing me,’” said Lil Mama.

The rapper also said she finds it odd that many rappers who are older than her have a problem with her. “...I feel like these women, Nicki Minaj, Lil’ Kim, who - many of them - they are all six to 10 to 20 years my senior. I have so much time and space to grow, that even if someone else is ignorant, let them be,” she said.

Although Minaj doesn’t often engage in the beef with Lil Mama, she has responded to her before. In 2009, Minaj rapped, “Five, little mama, you a three-star / I ain’t sleepin’ when I say I’m in my dream car.”

Minaj has yet to respond to Lil Mama’s latest comments.
