The latest rumor about "Mean Girls" star Lindsay Lohan doing the rounds is that she has become a Muslim. However, a representative for the actress said: "She has not converted [to Islam]," Gossip Cop reported Monday.

Last week, Lohan deleted all her posts from Instagram and Twitter, but her bio on her Instagram account, which has 5.7 million followers, had "Alaikum salaam" written on it. The Arabic words "Alaikum salaam" are the usual response to "As-salam alaikum," a standard salutation used by Muslims which means "Peace be unto you."

The rumor began spreading Saturday when Yahoo reposted a story from International Business Times. The 30-year-old, who is also an activist for Syrian refugees, shocked millions of her followers and fans when she deleted all posts on her social media accounts.

However, after this rumor, Dina Lohan, her mother, told Gossip Cop her daughter had simply "gone on a social-media break."

Lohan has expressed her interest in Islam earlier as well, when she was photographed with a Quran in her hands, on the streets of New York. "It opened doors for me to experience spiritually, to find another true meaning. This is who I am," Lohan said during an interview with a Turkish television channel.
