Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan is expected back in court Wednesday where a judge could decide whether an allegation that she stole a $2,500 necklace can be resolved without going to trial.

The 24-year-old actress pleaded not guilty to a count of felony grand theft over the necklace which was taken from a Venice Beach jewelry store.

During her Feb. 9 arraignment LiLo's lawyer indicated that the Mean Girls actress may be willing to take a plea deal to avoid jail time.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz said to Lohan last month, Everybody else has to follow the law. You're not different than anyone else. So please, don't push your luck.

Late last month Kamofie & Co. a boutique jewelry store in Venice, California reported the custom necklace stolen. Lohan, whose apartment is located close to the jewelry store, claims that the necklace was given to her on loan. The store maintains that it was stolen after photos of the actress wearing the necklace surfaced.

Officials knocked on LiLo's apartment last week, equipped with a search warrant, but the necklace was returned by one of Lohan's associates before police could conduct the search.

The actress is currently on probation for drunk driving and cocaine possession from 2007. If convicted of the theft charge, she would also be in violation of probation which could mean more jail time.
