Actress Lindsay Lohan was hospitalized after getting into a car accident near Los Angeles Friday, and it appears LiLo was not seriously injured.

Lohan, who is set to portray screen legend Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime flick Liz & Dick, was driving her black Porsche on the Pacific Coast Highway when she crashed into an 18-wheeler around 12 noon PDT, TMZ reported.

The 25-year-old actress, whose struggles with alcohol and drugs derailed her promising career, was bloodied from the accident and insisted the 18-wheeler cut her off, according to TMZ.

Linday Lohan's assistant was also in her car and was injured as well, with both being taken to the hospital, eyewitnesses told TMZ.

The extent of LiLo's injuries are unclear, although TMZ was told that she seems OK and that doctors were performing tests.

After setbacks to her career, Lohan is eager to go back to filming.

I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor, Lohan told the Telegraph in a story about her upcoming role in Liz & Dick.

Lohan said of Taylor: She was not only an incredible actress, but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.

Lohan cut her acting teeth playing dual roles in Disney's 1998 family comedy The Parent Trap. She would later star in Freaky Friday and Mean Girls.

As part of her comeback, Lindsay hosted Saturday Night Live back in April.

I feel lucky and grateful to be here tonight and that's why I really want to thank all of my friends at 'SNL' who trusted me enough to have me back, Lohan said as she began her monologue. This studio feels like home to me.

Lohan's appearance on the sketch comedy show set records and was the most-watched program in its time slot on any network.
