Lindsay Lohan took the stage at NBC's Studio 8H in New York Saturday night as the host of Saturday Night Live. The troubled 25-year-old actress has been attempting a comeback since winding up the sordid legal woes that have plagued her since 2007.

It had been six years since Lindsay Lohan hosted SNL and the actress looked both nervous and excited when she came out for her monologue dressed in a conservative, knee-length, royal blue dress with patterned blue sandals.

I'm Lindsay Lohan and I'm hosting 'Saturday Night Live.' I know, right? I feel lucky and grateful to be here tonight and that's why I really want to thank all of my friends at 'SNL' who trusted me enough to have me back, she said.

Confirming the rumors, Lohan poked fun at her past run-ins with the law and drug use. When she attempted to step off the stage, an alarm sounded. When Keenan Thompson joined her onstage he complimented her pretty eyes, only to whip out a flashlight to check her pupils.

The opening monologue was nothing spectacular, but it was enough to get us excited for what was to come.

Up next was hands-down the most hilarious skit of the night, Disney Housewives. A knock-off of Bravo's infamous Real Housewives series, Lohan, Kristen Wiig and other SNL ladies transformed into The Real Housewives of Disney. Drunken slurs, dwarf sidekicks and of course a Housewives song made this the funniest skit of the night. Lindsay Lohan channeled the Lohan we all knew and loved from Mean Girls.

Other dismal skits followed - like The Psychic Awards where Lohan acted as an awards show trophy girl; and B108FM, where Lohan co-hosted a radio show in Minnesota.

Another funny skit was House Sitting with Lindsay Lohan as a teenage house sitter and Kristen Wiig as the kooky homeowner. Of course, the skit was carried by the genius Wiig, though Lohan made a decent effort.

Twitter users were disappointed with Lohan's performance. This may be the first time Lindsay Lohan had trouble doing lines. #SNL tweeted user DrunkEnough. This was the most retweeted post of the night. Fox Boogie said, Lindsay Lohan('s) done. Lost it. The main complaint seemed to be the fact that the actress was not really acting, instead she relied on cue-cards for a majority of the night. Comedian Andy Borowitz posted a fictitious quote attributed to Lana del Rey, saying, I can't believe 'SNL' would let Lindsay Lohan embarrass herself like this.

Despite the fact that many groaned about Lohan's performance on SNL, the actress herself reportedly thought she did a great job.

According to TMZ, sources close to the actress said that she understands the show was not perfect but she is proud of her episode. She was excited to be back working and part of the action again. She even went with the flow when last minute changes were made, such as ditching her signing monologue for cameos with Jimmy Fallon and Jon Hamm.
