Liverpool could be set to turn their attentions to out-of-favor Aston Villa front man Darren Bent as they search for increased firepower in the January transfer window. Currently Luis Suarez is the club’s only fit, established striker and manager Brendan Rodgers has said that he will be looking to add to that area of his squad in the New Year.

However, with Rodgers also suggesting that big money is unlikely to be spent, a loan deal could be ideal. Metro claims that there is a belief that Liverpool have already begun negotiations with Villa over taking the 28-year-old until the end of the season with view to a permanent move next summer.

Despite having been signed for around £20 million less than two years ago, Bent has found himself out of favor at Villa this season under new boss Paul Lambert. Since returning from injury, the England international has not even been included on the substitutes’ bench.

However, if Villa are to let him go, which seems likely, they may well be looking for an immediate transfer fee.

TalkSport reports that Liverpool are still maintaining an interest on another striker who could soon be on the move—Fernando Llorente. The Athletic Bilbao star’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and his refusal to sign a new deal has seen him barely feature for the club so far this campaign.

The 27-year-old Spain international can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January or potentially even leave on an immediate cut-price fee, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool all keeping a close eye on the situation, according to TalkSport.

And Llorente has strongly suggested that he could soon be leaving the San Mames.

“Hopefully I can get a few goals by the end,” he said. “The more the merrier—and I'd like to leave the team as high in the table as I can."

Another potential target for Liverpool could be Marseille forward Loic Remy. The France international was strongly linked to Chelsea in the final days of the summer transfer window, but the Sun claims that Liverpool, along with Tottenham and Newcastle are now interested in the 25-year-old.

Remy has been blighted by injuries in recent times and he has started just once in Ligue 1. The player’s agent recently claimed that Remy could be available for £10 million.

Finally, TalkSport suggests that Liverpool could face competition from Milan in their reported long-standing pursuit of Cristian Tello. The Barcelona winger has yet to sign an extension to his current deal that is set to expire at the end of the season.

According to reports in Italy, Tello could be the subject of a £6.5 million bid from Milan in January, while the Serie A side could also attempt to bring him in on a free transfer in the summer.

Liverpool, along with Premier League rivals Arsenal, were strongly linked to the 21-year-old in the summer.
