“Lords of the Fallen” will be getting a new “Game of the Year” edition on June 26. As is the case with most Games of the Year, or GOTY, releases, “Lords of the Fallen: Game of the Year Edition” will come with the full game plus all the previously released downloadable content (DLC) that was released sometime after the game came out.

Many fans consider it odd that “Lords of the Fallen” is getting a GOTY. As Bleeding Cool pointed out, the game from City Interactive and Deck 13 isn’t a bad one, but it also wasn’t a critically acclaimed release, with many fans comparing it to “Dark Souls” but saying it was much easier compared to the role-playing game (RPG) from Atlus.

Whatever the case, fans will be able to revisit the game in June, this time with a good amount of extra content for those who missed out on the game the first time around. “Lords of the Fallen: GOTY Edition” will come with the “Ancient Labyrinth” DLC, along with the “Demonic Weapons” pack and the “Lion Heart” pack.

The DLC also came with even more weapons and armor that weren’t in the original release of the game, so it seems like fans will have a lot of loot to collect in their visit of the game’s world. Considering that the original title was already packed to the brim with content, this could be considered a nice gesture for the fans.

While often compared to the “Dark Souls” games of Atlus, “Lords of the Fallen” did manage to win over a good number of fans despite its similarities with the aforementioned game series. IGN has confirmed that a sequel, “Lords of the Fallen 2,” is currently in development, so it will be interesting to see how the sequel compares to its predecessor.

Fans who are in the mood for some dungeon crawling or who think “Dark Souls” is too difficult for them can check out “Lords of the Fallen: Game of the Year Edition” next month. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam.
