The Lotus C-01 Lotus Motorcycles

After two years of development, the first photos of the prototype Lotus C-01 high-performance motorbike dropped on Thursday. Essentially a Lotus in name only, the 400-pound, 200-horsepower crotch rocket was the product of a design and development team made up of Germany’s Kodewa Performance Motorcycles and Holzer Group and German designer Daniel Simon, famous for his work with Bugatti.

No pricing information is out yet, but what we do know is the bike’s carbon fiber and titanium body and V2, 4 stroke engine are made for speed while the design is made to turn heads.

Simon’s design vision not only caught eyes at Volkswagen Group, who hired him as a senior designer in 2001 to help reincarnate the Bugatti brand, he was lured to Hollywood in 208 to design vehicles for the film “Tron: Legacy,” the sequel to the 1982 sci-fi film “Tron.” Since then he’s also contributed vehicle concept designs for the films “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Prometheus” and “Oblivion.”

Even if you can afford one of these C-01s, which undoubtedly costs more than your typical Japanese bike, it’s not likely you will get your hands on it. Lotus Motorcycles intends to make only 100 of them.
