Louisiana State University campus was evacuated Monday afternoon after a bomb threat was phoned in to the East Baton Rouge Parish 911 office.

"A bomb threat has been reported on the LSU campus. Please evacuate the campus as calmly and quickly as possible. Check LSU social media and www.lsu.edu for updates," a post on the university's Twitter page and website read.

No other information about the nature of the threat was given. However, LSU's Associate Vice Chancellor Herb Vincent told the local media that a determination was made that "there was a need to evacuate the campus."

That led to the cancellation of classes and other scheduled events, according to reports.

LSU is the latest school to have been evacuated because of a bomb threat. Similar incidents reportedly took place in Texas, North Dakota and Ohio last week with authorities finding no explosives.
