The Finnish phone maker is all set to kick-off the launch of its biggest bet - Nokia Lumia 900 -- in an event later today at New Yourk Times Square.

Nokia has been betting a lot on Lumia 900 ever since the company announced its plans to adopt Windows Phone as the primary platform for its smartphones. And this week is their key moment of opportunity to surge in the smartphone market and gain some more ground on the US market where its presence is not as visible as it should be.

Nokia has already taken the first step and it dented the market with their recently announced deal with AT&T wireless carrier. It informed that the handset would arrive in the country April 8 through the one the fastest carriers - AT&T - at a price of approximately $100.

However, at the same time, Lumia 900 is entering a world already crowded by iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and dozens of other high-definition LTE smartphone stunners. Hence, here is a review of all the features stacked up in the futuristic smartphone, considering the good and the bad prospects of the new device, and further, it's on you to decide whether it is worth your purchase or not.

The Good

Form Factor: Lumia 900 comes sporting a rounded edges and flat top and bottom look accompanied by a bigger and better 4.3-inch Clear Black AMOLED screen and also backed by strong, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. Putting in simple words, it's vividly beautiful. It may be the best-looking phone on the market with handful of slit-like, silver buttons along the side.

Further, it has a very smooth, matte plastic finesse around the edges that can make the user feel very comfortable in hands. Moreover, with the out-of-the-box physical design of the Lumia 900, its display colors are also breathtaking.

Battery Life: Nokia Lumia 900 is loaded with a standard Li-lon 1800 mAh battery with up to 300 hours of stand-by, 7 hours of talk time and 60 hours of music play. According to numerous media reports, the battery is one of the key features of the handset and users would experience negligible unnecessary battery drainage and the device would run for a full day without any heavy battery discharge.

4G LTE Speed: Lumia 900 is the first Windows Phone with 4G LTE, which delivers snappy speeds that match the surprisingly fast overall performance. AT&T's 4G LTE speeds are several times faster than 3G and on par with Verizon's 4G LTE and for Lumia 900, it is one of the best features of the phone.

Processor and RAM: Inside, Lumia 900 is powered by Qualcomm Scorpion processor, running a 1.4GHz clock-speed just like its smaller kin this time. However, it would use the MSM8255T Snapdragon chipset, along with the same Adreno 205 graphics processing unit (GPU). This is a remarkable spec addition, which would keep the device running strong and smooth at the same time.

The Bad

Lack of Apps: The Windows Marketplace is buzzing with apps. However, some of the most popular like Instagram, Nook and Pandora are either not supported by the handset or are not available in the market.

Lacks microSD slot for storage expansion: Lumia 900 lags behind other smartphones when it comes to this feature. It would have the same memory setup as its predecessor, which means 16GB of internal storage and no card slot.

Screen Resolution: Of course, Nokia Lumia 900 display is very vivid, but at the very same time, it has got a lower screen resolution which is 480×800 pixels of resolution. Consequently, the screen resolution does not complement with the 4.3-inch Lumia screen display. Hence, it can be a deal breaker for buyers who love video viewing or reading books on their smartphones.

AT&T-only: AT&T's 4G LTE network is fast. But there is no other wireless carrier option for buyers who are not under the AT&T network area.
