An arrest warrant has been issued for Nate Summerfield, the ex-boyfriend and main suspect in the murder of Ohio woman Lynn Jackenheimer, whose body was found in North Carolina.

The arrest warrant was issued after a man discovered what authorities later identified as Lynn Jackenheimer's body on North Carolina's Outer Banks. Jackenheimer, a single mother, had been missing since earlier this month.

I think I may have found...possibly a body in a trash bag, said the person who called 911 when he found the body in Frisco, N.C., WNCT reported.

Nate Summerfield, Lynn Jackenheimer's ex-boyfriend, allegedly told his brother that he killed the 33-year-old Ashland, Ohio, woman by strangling her, according to CBS News.

The Ashland County Sheriff's Office said authorities in Dare County, N.C., notified them about discovering Jackenheimer's body Monday.

The discovery of Jackenheimer's body led authorities to issue an arrest warrant for Nate Summerfield. Lynn Jackenheimer's boyfriend had initially been a person of interest in her disappearance.

The cause of death has not yet been determined. As additional information becomes available, we will continue to provide updates. Our heartfelt condolences go to the family and friends of Lynn, the sheriff's office said in a statement. The Ashland Law Enforcement Community will continue to support and assist the Dare County, North Carolina Sheriff's Office in their efforts to apprehend suspect Nathan J. Summerfield.

Summerfield, 27, dropped off his children at this brother's house in Ohio before fleeing and hasn't been seen since, according to WAVY.

I just don't see how he could come home and face his family and his friends, Mandy Schonauer, who worked with Jackenheimer at Goodfellows Pizzeria & Pub, told the Mansfield News Journal.

Jackenheimer and Summerfield were in North Carolina on vacation with Jackenheimer's two children, according to WCTI.

News that Jackenheimer's body was found hit her family hard as they try to make sense of her death.

Just, the well's run dry. It's hard to even express emotions anymore, Jackenheimer's brother, Shaun Jackenheimer, told WCTI. Instead it's turning into anger.

While Summerfield has yet to be apprehended to face murder charges, Shaun Jackenheimer said he believed his sister's ex-boyfriend is responsible for her murder.

I want to see this dude suffer the way, the way my sister did, Shaun Jackenheimer said. Not even really suffer, just... Justice.

Authorities are struggling to locate Summerfield, according to Capt. Carl Richer of the Ashland County Sheriff's Office.

We have absolutely zero on him, Richert told the Mansfield News Journal. We haven't gotten any concrete tips. We don't have any idea where he's at.

Summerfield was last seen driving a gray Honda Civic with the license plate FMV 7540 - the car he used to drop off his children.

Authorities are unsure whether Summerfield is dead or on the lam.

Whether he is still alive or on the run, that's still to be determined, Richert said.
