RTTNews - Wednesday, the Statistics and Census Service or DSEC announced that the tourist arrivals declined 20.4% year-over-year to 1.59 million in May.

The decline was the impact of human swine influenza pandemic, the stat office said. Visitor arrivals declined 3.5% to 1.86 million in the previous month.

In May, visitors arriving from Mainland China dropped 49.7% on an annual basis, while those coming from Taiwan and Malaysia declined by 12.3% and 42.3% respectively.

For the first five months of the year, visitor arrivals decreased 10.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
