Sad news, “Dance Mom” fans: Sia Furler protégé Maddie Ziegler will leave the hit Lifetime reality show after Season 6, Us Weekly wrote in an exclusive report Thursday. It’s unknown if “Dance Moms” will continue without her, but she won’t be there for Season 7, if there is one.

Ziegler, 13, is an original cast member and has been a standout on the show since it debuted in 2011. She joined ALDC (Abby Lee Dance Company) when she was 4 years old, and she was always favored by coach Abby Lee Miller on the dramatic series. She won every ALDC dance competition except for one.

While it will certainly be hard for “Dance Mom” fans to see Ziegler go, her career in entertainment is far from over. The tiny performer wants to leave the Lifetime show so she can pursue acting, Us Weekly wrote. “Acting is something she’s really excited to pursue and [Maddie] is in high demand,” an insider told the publication.

She is slated to star in “Sister,” a feature film that Sia wrote and will direct. It’s clear the music giant has taken Ziegler under her wing, having the pint-sized dancer star in three of her music videos. Sia has also performed live with Ziegler. Most recently, they danced on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Miller she hasn’t issued a response about Ziegler supposedly quitting, but she gushed about her star student in her fall/holiday newsletter last week. “Maddie Ziegler had the best of both worlds,” she wrote about Ziegler’s film and dance career. Ziegler worked on the film “The Book of Henry” in New York City while filming Season 6 of “Dance Moms” in Los Angeles. “I wish I had her frequent flyer miles!” she said.

Ziegler has not issued a statement about her apparent departure on social media. The last post was a “happy birthday” to pop star Taylor Swift.

“Dance Moms” Season 6 premieres on Lifetime Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 9 p.m. EST.
