Denver concert attendees called a “too soon” on Madonna Thursday night during a show when the Queen of Pop staged a gun scene where she was shooting into the crowd, which reminded many of the Batman shooting earlier this year.

Madonna began her show Thursday night at the Pepsi Center in Denver with a gun scene, which she has used in her other shows along the tour. However, fans said Madonna’s scene was all too much like the shooting on opening night of the final Batman film installment on July 20 that left 12 dead.

According to 9News in Denver, the news station “received several calls Thursday night and Friday morning from concert-goers saying they were offended she used guns and violence as part of her show in light of recent events in the state.”

Fans also took to Twitter to express their anger towards Madonna for the gun scene, CBS in Denver reported, as well as allegedly being three hours late for the show.

“Really, Madonna? Keep Denver waiting 3 hours, then open with guns? And pretend to shoot people in the front of the theater? And that’s art?” one Twitter user wrote.

“Madonna 3 hours late for Pepsi Center concert with no apology, then proceeds with ‘Bang Bang’ in city plagued with gun violence,” wrote another.

The offense was drawn from the Aurora shooting when 24-year-old James Holmes opened fired during a midnight screening of “The Dark Knight Rises.” Holmes was charged with 24 counts of first-degree murder and 116 counts of attempted murder.

According to the Associated Press, Madonna released a statement before her tour began saying she does not condone the use of weapons and uses the guns as “symbols of intolerance” and “the pain I have felt from having my heart broken.”
