The black bustier with gold trimmings that was worn by American singer and actress Madonna during her popular 1987 Who's That Girl tour has been auctioned for a staggering $72,000.

The custom-made corset was from Los Angeles-based Trashy Lingerie, a store that is well known for its celebrity clientele and lingerie models. The corset was originally worn by the pop diva with tight fishets to boot.

The auctioned price is way above pre-sale estimates of $6,000 to $8,000.

According to an earlier Vogue UK report, the costly corset was exhibited at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and the Frederick's of Hollywood Museum in Los Angeles. In addition to the corset, other items on sale included a signed copy of the singer's controversial coffee-table book, Sex, written in 1992 and a recording of the song Simon Says.

It has been reported that the total auction drawings was over $99,324.
