Stocks have shown a notable move to the downside in recent trading on Tuesday, with the major averages pulling back to new lows for the session. The downward move reflects continued concerns about the upcoming earnings season.

With YRC Worldwide (YRCW) leading the sector lower after revealing that it plans to take up to $185 million in one-time charges in the first quarter, trucking stocks are turning in some of the market's worst performances in afternoon trading.

Significant weakness also remains visible among housing, real estate, semiconductor, and wireless stocks. On the other hand, health insurance, tobacco, and gold stocks continue to buck the downtrend by the broader markets.

The major averages have continued to move lower in the past few minutes, once again falling to new lows for the day. The Dow is currently down 190.99 at 7,784.86, the Nasdaq is down 42.52 at 1,564.19 and the S&P 500 is down 18.31 at 817.17.
