While buying interest has remained relatively subdued following the sell-off seen in the previous session, stocks have continued to perform well over the course of the first half-hour of trading on Tuesday after showing a strong upward move at the open.

Banking stocks are turning in some of the market's best performances after helping to lead the way lower on Monday, with significant strength also visible among health insurance stocks. On the other hand, notable weakness has emerged in the housing sector.

The major averages all currently remain in positive territory, although they have moved well off their highs for the young session. The Dow is currently up 52.97 at 7,574.99, the Nasdaq is up 18.85 at 1,520.65 and the S&P 500 is up 4.76 at 792.29.
