RTTNews - Malaysia's manufacturing sector sales value dropped 25.5% year-on-year in March compared to a revised 22.9% fall in February, the Department of Statistics said Tuesday. The sales value declined by MYR12.5 billion to MYR36.6 billion. Month-on-month, the manufacturing sales value rose 6.3% in March.

During the month, the number of employees in the manufacturing sector fell 7% on an annual basis to 71,440. The salaries and wages paid decreased 8.4% to MYR1,840.2 million, and the productivity of employees dropped 22.3% to MYR37,252.

Compared to the previous month, the number of employees declined 1.7%, while the salaries and wages paid fell 2.5%. However, productivity of employees increased 7.5%.

During the January-March period, the manufacturing sales value was down 25.9% compared to the same period in the previous year.
