The Malaysian central bank will hold its monthly monetary policy meeting on Wednesday and then announce its decision on interest rates, headlining a light day for Asian economic news.

Analysts are split on the rate call, with some expecting the bank to leave them on hold at 2 percent - while others are expecting a reduction of 25 basis points to 1.75 percent.

The Japanese stock markets are closed on Wednesday in observance of Showa Day, and will re-open on Thursday.
