RTTNews - Friday, the National Statistics Office of Malta said the retail price index rose 4.01% year-on-year in April, slower than a 4.26% increase in March.

On an annual basis, the price rise in food slowed to 9.88% in April from 11% in March, while the price increase for housing eased to 2.93% from 3.92%. Moreover, retail prices of utilities climbed 31.63%, at a slower pace compared to a 45.93% rise in March. Other goods and services prices were up 1.71% compared to a 2.04% increase in the preceding month.

Month-on-month, the retail price index was up 0.13% in April compared to a 0.77% rise in the preceding month. Food prices dropped 1.63% in April after a 1.62% rise in March, while price of utilities declined 9.18%, after remaining flat in the previous month. Price of other goods and services dropped 0.03% compared to a 0.15% increase last month.
