RTTNews - Malta's trade deficit stood at EUR 95.6 million in May, down from a deficit of EUR 111.9 million in the previous year, as imports decreased more than exports, the National Statistics Office said Tuesday.

Total exports dropped to EUR 124.3 million from EUR 162.1 million last year, while imports fell to EUR 219.9 million from EUR 274 million.

In the first five months of the year, the trade deficit narrowed to EUR 502.1 million from EUR 576.7 million in the same period last year. Exports declined to EUR 611.6 million from EUR 857.1 million, and imports decreased to EUR 1.11 billion from EUR 1.43 billion.
