A man was arrested for the kidnapping and abandoning of his 2-year-old daughter.

Dwayne Jackson, 25, from Edison, New Jersey, was charged with kidnapping and endangering the welfare of the child, Bruce Kaplan, a Middlesex County Prosecutor said according to New Jersey's Star-Ledger.

Jackson abandoned the child at a Shell service station in Newark for which he was also charged with one count of first-degree reckless endangerment, the paper reported.

A woman whose burned body was found in a park is connected to the case, police in Monsey, New York have said, according to the Associated Press.

It is unknown if the woman is the mother of the child.
