Man blows himself up in failed Yemen attack: source

SANAA (Reuters) - A suicide bomber blew himself up near Sanaa airport on Wednesday, apparently to target a convoy of South Koreans investigating an al Qaeda suicide that killed four Korean tourists this week, a security source said.

The source said the man was waiting on a road to Sanaa airport and no one else was harmed in the explosion.

The bombings came after calls by al Qaeda leaders for attacks on non-Muslim foreigners in the Arabian Peninsula and are likely to hit the impoverished country's fledgling tourism industry.

Violence in Yemen has affected foreign firms developing its oil and gas sector, while attacks on foreigners -- including kidnappings by tribesmen -- have hit tourism, diplomats say.

Four Korean tourist were killed this week an attack that the government has blamed on al Qaeda and said it was carried out by a suicide bomber who was trained in Somalia.

Yemen has battled al Qaeda and similar groups for years.
