Police say a man dressed as Capt. Jack Sparrow, the pirate played by Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise, was pepper-sprayed after a fight broke out in downtown Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Police Department Media Relations officials told the International Business Times they were aware of the incident, but had no new information beyond the bulletins posted early Friday. No arrests were made and therefore, the official said, the reasons why the fight began or the pirate was pepper sprayed were unclear.

Police responded to a disturbance call and arrived to find Sparrow sparring others dressed as Catwoman and an alien. The course of action that led to the pepper-spraying is unclear. The brawl went down in front of the Kodak Theatre on Hollywood boulevard late Thursday night. The particular stretch of Hollywood Boulevard the Kodak Theater is on plays host to many costumed characters who, looking for a buck, pose with tourists for photographs.

The man dressed as the pirate was treated for minor injuries, according to The Associated Press.
