Volkswagen is likely to make a full takeover bid for German truckmaker MAN SE , in which it already has nearly 30 percent, a German paper quoted an unidentified MAN executive as saying.

The offer will come, the Suedeutsche Zeitung quoted the executive as saying in an article printed on Tuesday.

Volkswagen Chairman Ferdinand Piech, who is also chairman of MAN, has dropped several hints this year that MAN is on his radar screen as he tries to revive plans for a three-way trucks alliance with Swedish unit Scania .

The departure of three top MAN executives within weeks has fueled speculation of a bid.

At 0714 GMT (2:14 a.m. EST), shares in MAN were indicated 1.1 percent higher, outperforming the broader German market, which was seen up 0.4 percent.
