It was a great day for Manchester United. The Red Devils put in a commanding display at Old Trafford against Chelsea to win 2-1 and get to within a point off the Premiership title.

It didn't take long for the first goal. 36 seconds, that's all it took. A horrendous Chelsea defence were punished as Park Ji-Sung slipped Javier Hernandez through past the stumbling David Luiz and Chicharito did no mistake in finding the net. The goal rattled Chelsea and they were all over the place. They found it hard to keep the ball against a United side pressurizing deeply. For their part, United bombarded the Chelsea goal on many occassions.

However, it took 23 minutes for United to double their lead. Good play from Ryan Giggs down the left saw him get past a defednder and cross for Nemanja Vidic to head in.

After the half hour mark, Chelsea began to find a little of the ball though they were far away from threatening. On a rare instance, a corner found Salomon Kalou in the center of the box, but his header was palmed away by Edwin Van der Sar. That was Chelsea's best chance of the half and at half time, Ancelotti made two changes bringin on Alex and Ramires for Luiz, who looked as though the occassion was too much for him, and Mikel.

The changes didn't have the desired effect though and United, though not in the manner of the first half, continued comfortably. However, a toothless Chelsea somehow found the goal after Lampard got on the end of an Ivanovic header to poke home. Despite the goal, Chelsea couldn't prevent United who had many more chances to turn it into a cricket score. However, they will have no qualms about the scoreline.

As things stand, United are just a point away from winning their 19th league title which will see them overtake Liverpool's tally of 18. With their remaining games coming against Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool, it would take a catastrophe of gigantic proportions for United to lose this one.
