Manchester United did not provide any post-match comments after Sunday's 3-1 loss at Liverpool, with manager Sir Alex Ferguson and assistant Mike Phelan refusing to face the media.

Sir Alex had also cancelled his pre-match briefing on Friday, in protest against the huge coverage his comments about referee Martin Atkinson was given. It resulted in an inquiry and a subsequrnt improper conduct charge on Ferguson.

After the defeat at Liverpool, in which there were many talking points including Carragher's seemingly malicious tackle on Nani which resulted in an open wound on the shin for the winger, United's only response was Rio Ferdinand's twitter comment which read Bad result today no excuses.''

It is unknown how long the media blackout will last, but if any of the media, including BBC, talkSPORT or Sky Sports decide to complain, the Premier League will be forced to act.
