Reports have again emerged that Manchester United could beat out fierce competition for the signing of Wilfried Zaha, by allowing the winger to remain at current club Crystal Palace on loan until the end of the season.

Zaha, 20, is rated by many as one of the best prospects in the country and is thought to be currently pursued by several Premier League clubs. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger recently commented that Zaha was one of the players he was looking at ahead of the January transfer window.

However, according to the Daily Mail, United could seal a £10 million deal, by allowing Zaha to continue to help Palace’s push for promotion to the Premier League.

Zaha’s impressive performances in the Championship earned the Ivory-Coast born starlet a first England cap in a friendly with Sweden last month.

The continued uncertainty over the goalkeeping position at Old Trafford has led to speculation linking United with a move for Stoke’s Asmir Begovic. The Daily Telegraph reports that £10-million-rated Begovic is on Sir Alex Ferguson’s potential wish list in the January transfer window. Arsenal are also said to be interested in the 25-year-old Bosnian, who arrived at the Britannia Stadium from Portsmouth in January 2010 for a fee of £3.25 million.

However, Stoke chairman Peter Coates has ruled out a move in the New Year.

"Asmir will not be going anywhere in January and we are under no pressure whatsoever to sell any of our important players,” Coates told the Daily Telegraph.

"He is one of the best young goalkeepers in the league and we feel he can get better and better. It's only natural that the bigger clubs will be looking at him but nothing will happen this season.

"Our ideal scenario would be seeing Asmir spend the next three years here and helping us progress. He's on a good long-term contract and will be staying."

Ferguson has repeatedly switched between David de Gea and Andres Lindegaard between the sticks this season, with neither truly convincing. De Gea again showed his potential, though, with a fine display in the 3-2 victory over Manchester City on Sunday.

Another aim for Manchester United in January could well be to add a dynamic presence in midfield, with the club repeatedly linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven’s Kevin Strootman. The 22-year-old Netherlands international’s agent recently suggested that United were one of a number of clubs to register their interest.

But Italian giants Milan have also been strongly linked and their manager Massimiliano Allegri is eager to secure Strootman in January, according to TalkSport’s citing of reports in Italy.

United could also be set to battle Milan over another reported transfer target in Torino center back Angelo Ogbonna. The 24-year-old is a regular member of the Italian squad and has been seen as potentially the man help alleviate United’s defensive problems.

According to TalkSport, Milan are also a fan of Ogbonna and will test Torino’s desire to hold onto him by bidding £13 million in January. Roma and Juventus are also reportedly interested.
