Manchester United's much-reported pursuit of Brazilian Lucas Moura appears likely to drag on for a few more weeks yet. United's offers for the 19-year-old have consistently been rejected by Sao Paulo, with conflicting reports coming out of the Brazilian club as to whether a deal would still be considered this summer. United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has also confirmed his interest in the pacey attacking midfielder.

Currently in Britain with the Brazil Olympic squad, Lucas has said that he's full focus is currently on trying to win gold for the Selecao. Notably, he did not rule out a move, however.

"I am focusing on my team, Sao Paulo and in Brazil's national team at the moment," he said, according to Sky Sports. "I'll decide my future after the Olympics."

"It's already a victory to be here. Now I have to be ready for any situation if Mano Menezes believes I have to play."

Lucas finds himself behind Hulk in the battle for a starting place on the right of Brazil's attack.

United have also been linked with several central midfielders as Ferguson looks to bolster his options for the coming season.

The Daily Mail reports that United have joined the race to sign Celtic's holding midfielder Victor Wanyama. The story also claims that Arsenal, as well as Queens Park Rangers and Stoke are interested in the Kenya international.

Reportedly scouts from each club watched the 21-year-old during Celtic's 1-0 defeat to Norwich in Tuesday's pre-season friendly. Celtic are said to want £7 million for the player who arrived in Glasgow from Belgian side Beerschot last summer.

A more high-profile move could yet be made for Real Madrid's Nuri Sahin. Spanish publication AS has reported that a big Premier League side will sign the Turkish midfielder on a season-long loan next week. Manchester United are one of the sides to have been linked with Sahin this summer, while Tottenham and Arsenal are also thought to be contenders.

The 23-year-old was offered to Tottenham as part of a deal to sign Luka Modric, but refused to be included in the transfer.

Sahin joined Real from Borussia Dortmund a year ago, but only managed to make a handful of appearances for Jose Mourinho's side during the last campaign.

United have also been linked in recent days for a move for River Plate midfielder Ezequiel Cirigliano. The 20-year-old has been likened to fellow-Argentine Javier Mascherano and is also said to be interesting rivals Manchester City, as well as Internazionale and Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, however, Napoli are extremely keen to take Cirigliano to the south of Italy.

A midfielder of the Argentinian's ilk could well be useful at Old Trafford next season. Doubts remain about the future of Darren Fletcher, who continues to battle an inflammatory bowel disease, with no time line yet in place for any return to first-team action. Anderson could also add bustling industry to the United midfield, but injuries and inconsistent form mean that Ferguson may be loathed to rely upon the Brazilian.
