Preview: Manchester United will be looking to recover on short rest from Thursday's Europa League defeat to Athletic Bilbao, but will find that no easy task against an in-form West Brom.

Roy Hodgson's men have won three games on the bounce in the Premier League, scoring 10 goals in the process as well as putting the final nail in Andre Villas-Boas' coffin at Chelsea last weekend.

Despite some early struggles this season, West Brom currently sit in 12th spot in the Premier League and can look forward to an end of season free from any relegation drama.

In contrast, United know that the pressure is on them in every league game as they try to overhaul rivals Manchester City at the top of the table. City, who will be kicking off against Swansea at the same time as United, currently lie two points clear in first place.

Much of United's hopes will continue to rest on the shoulders of Wayne Rooney who has scored seven times in his last five appearances for the club.

Despite United's impressive home record again this season, West Brom will be buoyed by the fact that they were the only team to leave Old Trafford with any points last season, after registering a 2-2 draw.

Team News: Chris Smalling is a doubt for United after the defender reopened a head wound against Bilbao that he originally incurred on international duty with England. Better news for the Red Devils is that Tom Cleverley looks set to return after his latest injury layoff.

While Paul Scholes looks likely to be brought back in midfield, Ferguson must decide whether to partner Rooney with either Javier Hernandez or Danny Welbeck up front.

West Brom may well be without winger Jerome Thomas, who has a hamstring problem. Fellow midfielder Chris Brunt may be fit enough to return after his lengthy layoff, though he is likely to only make the bench.

Hodgson will also hope that Billy Jones is fit enough to fill-in for Steven Reid at right back.

Prediction: Especially coming off the quick turnaround from Thursday's match, West Brom will provide stern opposition for United. But Ferguson's men are experts at getting the victory when it's needed in the season's climax, even when their performance may not be top notch.

It will be close, but United should just have enough to edge this one.
