Mariah Carey fans will have to wait a bit longer to hear Mimi's new album after she announced the project isn't ready.

The "Beautiful" singer originally planned to release her new album "The Art of Letting Go" on July 23. But Carey has now taken to her Twitter account to let fans know she needs just a little more time to wrap up the project.

"While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don't feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23," Carey tweeted.

Though Carey did not share when she expects the album to be released, she did assure fans that "when I'm ready, you'll be the first 2 know!"

"The Art of Letting Go" will be Carey's first studio album in four years. She also announced in May that she would be embarking on a world tour to accompany the project.

Carey's new single "Beautiful" has peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, reports Digital Spy. Carey's singles usually dominate the charts, so the uncharacteristically lukewarm performance of "Beautiful" may offer at least one explanation for the album's delay.

The singer is scheduled to perform at the BET awards on Sunday as well as perform at the "Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular," which will air on NBC.
