Mariah Carey has undergone surgery to shave off some pounds.

The "Touch My Body" singer showed off a slimmer frame when she graced the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood last Wednesday. And it seems the secret behind her weight loss was gastric sleeve surgery, which Carey underwent six weeks ago to shrink the size of her stomach because she felt "extremely insecure about her weight."

"She always fluctuates and it makes her upset," a source told Entertainment Tonight. "She lives in denial about it; she has the tags cut out of clothes, so she can be blissfully unaware of her size."

A second source told the publication that the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" singer is happier with her new body. "This is a new beginning for her," the source said.

Meanwhile, Carey's ex, James Packer, recently opened up about their romance, and the billionaire mogul expressed some regrets over their relationship. "I was at a low point in my personal life," Packer, 50, said. "She was kind, exciting and fun. Mariah is a woman of substance. But it was a mistake for her and a mistake for me."

Initially, many thought that Packer and Carey's romance would end up in marriage. On Jan. 21, 2016, Packer proposed to the singer, and the two proceeded to plan their wedding. But things didn't go as planned during their vacation in Greece as the exes reportedly had a big fight that led to their split.

Meanwhile, an insider revealed that Carey was "blindsided" when she read a report that Packer dumped her due to her reality show, "Mariah's World," and extravagant spending. "Mariah was totally blindsided by James. She read the news in Woman's Day Australia that said he dumped her," the source told Us Weekly.

"Mariah knew they were having problems, but all relationships have issues — it wasn't the kind of thing where she thought she'd read in the paper that she got dumped. … She was devastated; she was shocked," the source added.

Carey's rep denied the rumors claiming that the ex-couple broke up due to her excessive spending. "The fight was not because of any cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah," the singer's rep told Entertainment Tonight.
