Today would mark the birthday of former movie star Marilyn Monroe.

The actress, whose untimely death came in 1962, would have been 85 today. The How to Marry a Millionaire actress is arguably the most iconic image of Hollywood to date.

Marilyn, who rose to stardom in the early 1950s, had several public relationships and break-ups. Joe Dimaggio, who Marilyn married in 1954, reportedly stopped by Marilyn's grave each year after her death to place flowers on her tomb.

Marilyn married three times. Her first husband was James Dougherty, in 1942, whom she divorced in 1946. Her second husband was baseball legend Joe Dimaggio, in 1954, which she divorced less than a year later, and her third and final marriage was in 1956 to playwright Arthur Miller, best known for The Crucible. The couple divorced in 1961.

Marilyn died in 1962 from what appeared to be suicide from an overdose of pills. Marilyn was closely associated with the Kennedy family at the time, specifically the President, John F. Kennedy, and rumors and conspiracies have circled around Marilyn's death and the Kennedy's involvement.
