Almost immediately upon entering the world stage, Mario Balotelli has been plagued by the reputation of being undisciplined.

In a friendly match against the Los Angeles Galaxy at Home Depot Center in Carson, California, Balotelli enforced his problematic behavior with a showboating, and bizarre play when he was in the penalty box and with opportunity to score. Instead of shooting with a good look at the goal, the Manchester City forward chose to do a back heel that completely failed.

A chorus of boos rained down on Balotelli as he headed to the bench, where he would receive a scolding from manager Roberto Mancini. The 20-year-old Italian forward later threw down a water bottle in disgust.

"I hope this is a lesson," said Mancini, who denied Balotelli may have thought he was offside, according to the BBC. "If you [Balotelli] are serious, you can play 90 minutes. If not, you can come and sit by me on the bench."
