Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay and her husband, Peter Hermann, are proud parents of a newly adopted baby boy, Andrew Nicolas, according to People magazine.

The couple had also adopted a baby girl, Amaya Josephine, only six months ago, and have a biological child together, five-year-old, August.

We never in a million years thought it would happen this quickly, but something inside of us knew that this was right, and we said 'Yes, yes, yes!' the 47-year-old star and mom of three told People.

In September, Hargitay also donated a gift of $100,000 to her alma mater, UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT), which will go toward a new scholarship in her name.

Hargitay said she plans to continue working four days a week on SVU while her kids bond.

“They’ll lie in the crib together, and she’ll hold his hand and put her arm around him,” said Hargitay speaking about Andrew and Amaya. “She’s already so protective of him.”

Some other celebrities, such as Angelina Jolie and Meg Ryan, have also adopted their children from foreign countries such as Cambodia and China, while many other stars have opted to adopt domestically, including Sandra Bullock and Denise Richards.

Richards, who kept her two-year-long baby adoption process “extremely quiet,” says she was inspired to adopt a child from the U.S. after her own mother, Joni Richards, died of cancer.

Bullock adopted her baby boy, New Orleans-born Louis Bardo, shortly after her divorce from ex-husband Jesse James in 2010.
