U.S. stocks ended lower on Friday, pressured by bank shares after JPMorgan Chase & Co reported loan losses in the last quarter.

Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> fell 100.90 points, or 0.94 percent, to end at 10,609.65. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was down 12.43 points, or 1.08 percent, at 1,136.03. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was down 28.75 points, or 1.24 percent, at 2,287.99.

For the week, the Dow was down 0.1 percent, the S&P was down 0.8 percent and the Nasdaq was down 1.3 percent.
