Asia looks at Gold?s Technical Breakout
August 21 2012 5:01 PM EDT
US gold futures finished pit trade with good gains and hit a fresh 2.5-month high Tuesday. It was a "risk-on" day in the market, as most commodity futures markets saw strong buying interest sparked by the key outside markets being in a daily Bullish mode. The USD index was lower and Crude Oil prices were higher.

Gold Price and Indian Demand Shifting Trends
August 20 2012 12:32 PM EDT
One of the top stories in the financial markets in 2012 has to be the stagnation in the price of gold at around $1600 an ounce, which is down approximately 17% from its peak at $1920.30. Those bullish on the yellow metal have been disappointed in gold's performance while those bearish on the shiny metal have reveled in its stagnation, saying that gold's status as a safe haven is over.
August 20 2012 8:27 AM EDT
Commodity prices traded narrowly in European session as investors got few hints regarding central banks' monetary stance in coming months. Gold continued to fluctuate around 1600. In the near-term, we do not see much breakthrough without fresh news of further easing from the Fed and the ECB.

GOLD: Closes Lower, Vulnerable Despite Consolidation
August 19 2012 3:53 PM EDT
Although GOLD rallied sharply to close higher the past week, it remains trapped in a range between the 1,544.35 and the 1,640.45 levels. In order for the commodity to extend its upside it will have to break and hold above the 1,640.45 level, its range top. This if seen will open up further upside towards the 1,670.70 level and then the 1,700.00 level. Its weekly RSI is bullish and pointing higher suggesting further strength.
Silver Trading Near Consolidation Resistance
August 17 2012 9:00 AM EDT
Silver has been directionless for a few weeks, since late July. The 4H chart shows the market at recent highs. Though the market is sideways, the 4H chart shows a slightly bullish bias, with the RSI holding above 40 for the most part after kissing 70. Price action is also above the moving averages, though it has been whippy. The moving averages are not all in bullish alignment yet, but appears to be moving that way.

Gold Mining Stocks Continue to Disappoint But Not For Long
August 14 2012 3:34 AM EDT
It is an endless debate for investors interested in gold. Should they buy a direct play on the gold price, either gold bullion itself or even so-called paper gold with an ETF such as the SPDR Gold Shares (NYSEArca: GLD)? Or should they invest into gold equities, particularly the larger, higher quality gold mining companies?

August 07 2012 12:42 PM EDT
THE SPOT MARKET cost of buying gold climbed to $1616 an ounce Tuesday morning in London, its highest level so far this week, as commodity prices and stocks markets also edged higher, with the exception of the FTSE which was hit by allegations that one London-listed bank has hidden "secret transactions" from US regulators.
