A North Carolina couple, headed to see each other, saved lives during two separate incidents on Christmas Eve. The wife helped a family exit a house fire, while the husband aided an ailing child, WSOC reported.

Crystal Travis and her daughter were driving when they noticed a fire ripping through a home in Cleveland County, North Carolina Sunday. They stopped, sprang into action and helped a family escape the flames.

"I couldn't really tell at first and then I realized this house is on fire," Crystal told WSOC. "Then, all of the sudden, the propane tank on the porch explodes. It shakes the ground, and you can just feel it. There's smoke everywhere. It's hard to breathe."

Members of the family told WSOC they escaped unharmed and salvaged Christmas gifts from their home.

"It was just all really fast, really chaotic," Crystal said of the incident. "Just really glad they were able to make it out."

Meanwhile, her husband Roger helped a distressed child just 20 miles away. Roger explained that he was driving through Hickory Mall when he noticed people on the side of the road performing CPR on a baby.

Roger, who is a certified EMT, used his training to save the child.

"It looked like there was a traffic accident in the front of the mall," Roger said. "We did get a pulse. The child was crying."

The couple claimed it was a miracle that they helped save lives that day.

"We were like, 'What are the odds? This is the craziest day ever,'" Crystal said.

"God put us at the right moment, at the right time, for the people that needed us the most," Roger added.
