Married At First Sight season 6 premiere date
“Married at First Sight” Season 6 will air on Lifetime in 2018. Lifetime

“Married at First Sight” is coming back next year! The Lifetime reality show is heading into Season 6, where it will pair up six new strangers.

“Married at First Sight” Season 6 premieres Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 9 p.m. EST on Lifetime, the network announced Monday. It will be preceded by the casting special “Married at First Sight: Matchmaking Special” at 8 p.m. EST.

The reality show follows three couples who are paired up by relationship experts. The two pick their rings and plan their entire weddings without meeting each other or even knowing their partner’s name. They are introduced at the altar just before saying I do.

Cameras follow them over the next couple months as their relationship fast tracks. After the honeymoon, they figure out living arrangements, money issues and more. After several weeks, they determine if they want to stay married or get a divorce.

As with the past several seasons, the show is on the move again. These singles are looking for love and commitment in Boston, and they’ll have longtime “Married at First Sight” expert and sociologist Dr. Pepper Schwartz as well as Pastor Calvin Roberson to help them. Stepping in as the psychologist this season is Dr. Jessica Griffin, who some fans may remember from FYI’s “Seven Year Switch.”

“Married at First Sight” fans have plenty to look forward to in the coming months. Fan favorite couple Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner are also getting another show. “Married at First Sight: Jamie and Doug Plus One” will follow Jamie, Doug and their baby Henley. The little girl was born in August, and the program, which premieres Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime, will show Jamie and Doug adjusting to their new life as parents.

The couple are very active on social media and let fans watch their journey to getting pregnant. Jamie suffered a miscarriage last year and discovered she was pregnant again on her original due date. The nurse was very open about her grieving process, and she has remained an open book when it comes to parenting. The new mom has recently shared that she found it difficult to end her maternity leave and go back to work.

Jamie and Doug are one of the few success stories from “Married at First Sight.” Their fellow Season 1 alums Jason and Cortney Carrion are still together, and Ashley Petta and Anthony D’Amico from Season 5 are also still married.
