Mary Travers' funeral or public memorial arrangements have not yet been announced.

Mary Travers died on Wednesday at age 72 at the Danbury Hospital in Connecticut, after battling leukemia for several years. She succumbed to the side effects of one of the chemotherapy treatments.

She was part of the folk trio 'Peter, Paul and Mary' which was one of the most popular bands of its genre in the 1960's. Travers had a supple and powerful voice and fervent stage moves, according to music critics.

Popular songs from the group include If I Had a Hammer, Lemon Tree, Leaving on a Jet Plane and Puff (The Magic Dragon.)

Travers is survived by her husband, Ethan Robbins, and daughters, Alicia and Erika.
