Several tornadoes swept Oklahoma City on Tuesday afternoon, the largest one striking El Reno, west of Oklahoma City, and continuing to the northeast, the National Weather Service said.

It killed at least five people and injured at least 60.

It happened 48 hours after the twister hit the town of Joplin, Missouri, killing 122 . It was the deadliest single tornado since the National Weather Service began keeping official records in 1950.

According to Reuters, five separate tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma with the storms winding down by 9:30 p.m.
