Consumer prices in Mauritius rose 0.1% month-on-month in April, mainly due to increase in transport prices, the Central Statistical Office said.

During the month, transport showed the fastest rise in prices, climbing 2.2%. This was followed by a 0.8% increase in the price of health. On the other hand, utilities showed the steepest fall in prices, declining 2.2% in April.

Meanwhile, in the twelve months ended April, consumer prices were up 8% compared to an 8.9% increase in the same period in the previous year.
