“Big Bang Theory” actress Mayim Bialik might have some controversial views on parenting, but she's not picking fights with anyone who disagrees with her. The 37-year-old actress, best known as the lead in the hit 1990s show “Blossom,” believes in attachment parenting and has received a lot of flack for it.

The goal of attachment parenting is to increase the child’s secure attachment and decrease insecure attachment. This is generally done through sleeping together, breastfeeding and baby "wearing," or when a parent carries their child in a sling.

Bialik shared her choice to participate in attachment parenting on the Jewish parenting website Kveller and didn’t get the most supportive feedback, she told Yahoo. "If I'm talking to girlfriends, if I'm talking to random people, and we're talking about parenting, I tell them what works for me and why," she said, referring to how she breastfed her son Fred until he was 4. "But a lot of people want to ask me things so that they can fight with me."

"And just because I'm a public person, who happened to have breastfed and slept with her kids, that doesn't mean that I want to fight with you on the street or in the supermarket," she continued. "So, I think you have to be really careful to understand why people want to know what they want to know."

Bialik, who just finalized her divorce from Michael Stone after nine years together, has two sons: Miles, 7, and Fred, 4.

"Obviously the notion of an older child nursing is very strange to some people," she said. "In certain cultures it's not. And I was very careful about when and how I chose to breastfeed my older child. … I think the notion of breastfeeding at all is still very controversial in some circles."
