Another mayoral hopeful is making waves on Twitter but this time it's to declare his candidacy.

In an announcement on Twitter, the forum that caused his former Mayoral contender Rep. Anthony Weiner problems, Thompson said, I did file paperwork with the [Campaign Finance Board]. I am running to be the next mayor of NYC.

Thompson who indicated his intent to run again for mayor after losing to Michael Bloomberg in 2009, was the only would be contender who hadn't started raising cash.

The former chief financial officer for the city registered with the CFB as a candidate on Friday. Congressman Anthony Weiner also declared his candidacy following the 2009 election but observers say his Internet sex-scandal would make his run unlikely.

Governor Andrew Cuomo nominated Thompson to chair the state Judicial Compensation Commission, Friday.
