When Floyd Mayweather agreed to fight Marcos Maidana, the location for the bout was still up in the air. Now, it’s been decided where the undefeated boxer will look to extend his 45-match winning streak.

The MGM Grand in Las Vegas will host the fight, which is set for May 3. Mayweather made the announcement on Twitter on Wednesday.

“I will be fighting at the best place on Earth on May 3rd… the MGM Grand,” Mayweather tweeted. “Reserve your rooms at mgmgrand.com.”

Few boxers are as familiar with the MGM Grand Garden as Mayweather. His last eight bouts have taken place in the venue. Even before he became a main-event fighter, Mayweather fought at the MGM Grand on three separate occasions, making his debut there in 2000. While the MGM Grand might be described as Mayweather’s second home, it’s located just a few minutes away from where he actually lives.

Maidana has very little experience at the MGM Grand. He last fought at the arena in 2012, which was just his second ever fight at the hotel and casion.

If the bout wasn’t set for Las Vegas, it would’ve taken place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Golden Boy promotions has a deal with the arena, which opened in 2012, to exclusively put on fights.

"They (Barclays Center) put together an unbelievable marketing proposal, but when it was said and done, the decision was to stay in Las Vegas,” Golden Boy chief executive Richard Schaefer told ESPN.com. “Floyd is very loyal to his people and his partners. The MGM is obviously happy, because they know the kind of economic impact Floyd's fights have on the casino and the whole city."

Other than his history with the MGM Grand, money was likely a major reason why Mayweather decided to stay in Las Vegas. Since there is no income tax in Nevada, he should save millions of dollars.

Mayweather hasn’t fought outside of Las Vegas since 2005, when he defeated Sharmba Mitchell in Portland, Oregon. He has never had a fight in New York.
